Product Details

From the trusted professional brand, RS PRO, this set of high-quality hexagon socket set screws are ideal for many applications in which a screw or bolt head would be detrimental to the overall operation. These fasteners usually have an entirely threaded body without a protruding head, although this is present on some styles, and an internal wrenching drive or Allen key is required to secure these screws into place. Once fastened, the set screw exerts a clamping force in order to secure the joined components in place by providing friction.

These set screws are made from A2 stainless steel (also known as 18.8 grade due to the 18% chromium and 8% nickel content), which provides a high hardness level and resistance to corrosion and wear & tear.

In this kit, you will find 800 set screws in thread sizes M3, M4, M5 and M6, and lengths of 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm.

The impressive strength of A2 stainless steels makes it a versatile component material, with this strength especially benefitting set screws.

Often used in situations where a standard nut & bolt would interfere with the functioning of an application, set screws almost always feature in mechanical systems to ensure smooth operation. Their fully-threaded body allows them to clamp two components together via friction, such as in architectural ironmongery.

Set screws are also particularly useful in applications that require increased grip, such as attaching a pulley to hub shaft, as the end point of the set screw pushes firmly against the shaft.
