This ultrasonic sensor from RS PRO offers a reliable method for high-speed object detection in domestic and industrial settings. It works by emitting a short burst of ultrasonic sound at a specific frequency towards the target. When the target reflects the sound back, the time for the echo to return is recorded and used to calculate the distance between the sensor and the object.
The open-structure sensor consists of a composite oscillating body that's elastically fixed to a base and the whole setup is housed in a Compact casing. Its 40 kHz operating frequency means that the sensor can detect a wide variety of objects up to a distance of 4 metres. As part of the RS PRO series, the sensor is tested for quality and consistency. This ultrasonic proximity sensor is only suitable for indoor applications and is typically used in burglar alarms, automatic doors and remote controllers.
