This RS PRO miniature fibre optic amplifier is a through-beam type proximity sensor you can use in a variety of sensing applications. When connected to a fibre-optic cable, the amplifier emits, receives and converts the light signal into an electrical one, allowing you to detect objects without physical contact.
The cable has a polyethylene (PE) core for durability and resistance to impact. The shape of this unit allows you to tie it in a wire loom when you need to store long wires. The sensor has a quick response time of 500 microseconds, so you can be sure the detection is instantaneous.
This unit is handled and packed in accordance with American (ANSI/ESD S20.20:2014) and European (BS EN 61340-5-1:2007) electrostatic discharge (ESD) certifications to ensure the risk of discharge is minimised. It also complies with Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) criteria, so it includes only minimal amounts of any harmful substances.
