Need to mate a gear, hub or another component with a rotating shaft? These Woodruff keys from RS PRO are used to lock a part to a shaft and prevent it from rotating independently. They can also act as a failsafe device by shearing under an excessive load, which prevents damage to expensive parts. Woodruff keys are used with a rotating machine element and shaft that has a keyway (slot) and a keyseat (pocket) respectively for them to fit into.
This combination kit includes 90 keys in 18 different sizes with both imperial and metric Woodruff keys. They come in a handy box with 18 square compartments and a transparent lid to aid easy identification. These products meet the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive, meaning they contain no more than trace levels of any hazardous substances. Woodruff keys are commonly found in workshops, where they're used with machine tools.
