Don't get your wires crossed – this network cable tester from Amprobe lets you verify cables in a snap. It's designed to work with data cables and connectors and can check for shorts, opens and continuity. You can see whether everything is set up correctly and test the strength and speed of your signals at the same time. Sort through your wiring cable by cable or pulse through pinouts at once – either way, the LED screen shows your results with a series of easy-to-read red and green lights.
The tester's 9V battery provides 20 hours of power to see you through numerous testing jobs.
It's compact enough to take into the field, with dimensions of just 38 (H) x 130 (L) x 56mm (H).
Designed to work with various data cables and connectors, this cable tester provides a fast go / no-go LED display. It has the ability to either step through the test cable wiring one at a time or have the unit automatically pulse through the pin-outs to display the results.
Test opens, shorts and miswired cables, verify the wiring for continuity on wall plate or patch panels.
LAN testers are devices that allow a user to verify and test a connection or signal within a data cable. The types of tests include whether the cable is set up correctly, connected, the strength or speed of the signal being sent through the cable.
Usually made up of 2 sections or 2 boxes, a network cable tester will have a receiver and a transmitter. A cable is then connected directly or with connectors to both for testing. Once the tester is switched on a signal or data is sent via the cable and a report or the results are shown on the receiver. Receivers comes in a variety of types, shapes and sizes and therefore the results may vary in the way they are displayed. Some have LED's, some show patterns in lights and some different colours. The tester instruction manual will show what the results mean but some testers help determine the connection speed and detect problems.
RJ45 is an 8-pin connector whereas RJ11 is only a 4 wire connector. RJ45 is used in Ethernet connections to connect computers to networks. RJ11 is more of a conventional telephone wire used to bring fibre into your house. RJ is the abbreviation of registered jack.
Remote terminator, 1 ea RJ45 to female BNC cable, 1 ea RJ45 to male BNC cable, 1 ea RJ45 ot RJ45 cable, 1 ea female BNC to female BNC connector, 9 volt battery and user manual.
