Attach this 3M backing pad to surface conditioning discs to deliver a smooth cutting action. It holds the sanding disc in the correct position during the preparation and finishing of metal surfaces. The pad uses a centre-pin attachment system to reduce disc vibration. Combining it with surface sanding discs improves airflow and removal of debris, so you can rely on it for consistent cutting. This is a versatile choice that's suited to finishing and sanding applications including polishing granite or marble.
Using a backing pad is a simple way to improve the performance and extend the lifespan of abrasive discs in sanding jobs. If your pad is worn, it can damage the disc by wearing out the edges while leaving the middle relatively unused. 3M Centre-pin back up pads are used with Scotch-Brite surface conditioning discs. The centre-pin attachment system contributes to a reduction in tool vibration by centring, securing and maintaining the disc in the correct position on the back-up pad.
