What is an IP rating?

IP (Ingress Protection) levels refer to the level of protection materials such as an electrical enclosure has against solids such as dust and debris and liquids. The first digit identifies the level of protection from a physical intrusion. The second digit identifies the level of protection from water and other liquids.
