What is a Power Cable assembly?

Power cable assemblies are electrical cables that are pre-terminated with a plug or socket connector. Power cable assemblies can be terminated with connectors on both ends of the cable, or just one. Depending on the application, there are various types to suit a wide range of requirements.

What is an IEC C13 Connector?

This power cord is terminated with a fully moulded IEC plug which is used to connect the power cord to an appliance which has an IEC C14 inlet. C13 and C14 connectors have 3 pins, a rated current of 10 A and a maximum temperature rating of 70°C, and are sometimes referred to as IEC ’cold connectors’. IEC connectors conform to a set of specifications called IEC-60320 laid down by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) to ensure they meet common global design standards

What is This Cable Assembly Used With?

IEC C13 and C14 power cords or IEC leads are for use with IEC Class I appliances and are mainly used in computer equipment but can also be used in some domestic and commercial appliances. The most common applications include the following:

• Personal Computers and hard drives
• Test equipment
• Power distribution devices
• Server and network equipment
• Instrumentation amplifiers
• IT equipment

Features and Benefits

• Flexible and durable cable with PVC sheath
• Fully moulded connectors for strength and durability
• Reliable integrated strain relief for connection support and protection

IEC to BS1363 Plugs

A range of electrical appliance connecting leads, the majority of which are terminated with connectors that conform to IEC 60320. The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is the international standards and conformity assessment body. The drawing illustrates the range of connector types offered within this section - The 'odd' 'C' numbers refer to a socket type connector - mains input - and the 'even' 'C' numbers refer to a plug type connector - the appliance inlet.
