RS PRO Heavy Duty Pre-wired Proximity Reed Switch

RS PRO pre-wired proximity switch which is housed in aluminium and suitable for harsh environments.
Reed switches are a type of industrial switch and are used to interrupt or redirect the flow of electricity within a circuit. Reed switches are composed of two ferrous reeds in a small glass casing. The switches are magnetised and move when the magnetic field is moved towards the switch. A reed switch can turn on or off when a magnetic field is nearby.
RS PRO have a great range of industrial magnetic proximity switches and magnetic proximity sensors to suit many different applications.

Features:

Aluminium housed proximity switch
Changeover contacts
Pre-wired with 0.7 m PVC leads
Blue cast zinc case with slotted fixing
Breakdown volts: 340ac/500dc
Rating IP64 - waterproof
Dimensions: 80 x 19 x 9.6 mm (switch) 38 x 25 x 9.6 mm (magnet)
Blue wire = common (could be a light grey colour)
Brown wire = normally closed
Black wire = normally open
Green/yellow wire = earth
Note: The normal condition is with no magnet present

Typical Applications:

Reed Proximity Switches and Proximity Sensors (also known as magnetic sensors) are popular due to their reliability and simple design.
Magnetic proximity switches are a type of electromagnetic switch which controls the flow of electricity within a circuit. Magnetic proximity switches can be used in the following applications:
Position sensing
Linear actuators
Security switching
Safety guards/devices

FAQs
What is a magnetic proximity switch?
Magnetic proximity switches are a type of electromagnetic switch which controls the flow of electricity within a circuit.

What is the difference between a proximity switch and a proximity sensor?
A proximity sensor is a sensor which is able to detect the presence of nearby objects without any physical contact. Proximity switches open or close an electrical circuit when they make contact with or come within a certain distance of an object.
